FGCU MBB vs UNF Recap: A-SUN Semifinals

The FGCU men's basketball team (23-10) continued their dominance as the No. 1 seed as they beat No. 5 seed UNF (14-19) 95-72 in the semifinals of the A-SUN Conference Tournament. With the win, The Eagles advances to the A-SUN Conference Tournament finals and will face No. 2 seed Lipscomb.

Redshirt senior, All-Conference First Team member and A-SUN Player of the Year Brandon Goodwin had 18 points (8-16 FG, 2-5 3FG), six rebounds, six assists and three steals.

Redshirt junior and All-Conference First Team member Zach Johnson had 17 points (6-10 FG, 5-8 3FG), two rebounds and six assists.

Redshirt junior Michael Gilmore had 16 points (7-12 FG, 2-4 3FG), six rebounds, two assists and one block.

Senior Christian Terrell had 14 points (6-9 FG, 1-2 3FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, seven assists and two steals.

Sophomore RaySean Scott, Jr had six points, three rebounds and one steal.

Off the bench, redshirt junior Dinero Mercurius had 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-4 3FG), two rebounds and three steals.

Redshirt senior Antravious Simmons had six points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal.

After missing six straight games from a sprained ankle, sophomore Christian Carlyle returned to the rotation. Carlyle finished with five points and one rebound.

Sophomore Brady Ernst had two points and three rebounds.

Redshirt senior Josh Ko contributed with one steal.

For the Ospreys, redshirt sophomore J.T. Escobar had 22 points, one assist and one steal. Sophomore Garrett Sams had 10 points, five rebounds and four assists. Sophomore Noah Horchler had nine points, six rebounds and one steal. Sophomore Wajid Aminu had nine points, seven rebounds, one assist, one block and three steals. Sophomore Ivan Gandia-Rosa had seven points, two rebounds and five assists.

Off the Ospreys bench, freshman Trip Day had 12 points, two rebounds and one assist. Freshman Ryan Burkhardt had three points. Redshirt senior Osborn Blount contributed with one rebound, freshman Emmanuel Lambright contributed with one block and freshman Brian Coffey II contributed with one assist.

After FGCU's game, the battle between No. 2 seed Lipscomb and No. 3 seed Jacksonville ended with the Bison beating the Dolphins 77-62.

Up next, No. 1 FGCU returns to action at home as they face No. 2 Lipscomb in the championship game of the A-SUN Conference Tournament. The game will not air on ESPN 3. Instead, it will air on ESPN on TV at 3 P.M.
