Bradenton, Fla - The SCF volleyball team (0-1) are set on their first taste of action on the road as they travel to take on Trinity College of Florida at the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center in New Port Richey Friday night, August 27 at 6 pm. This will be the first time both teams meet.
Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming off of their season opener at home as they fell to St. John's River State 3-0. It was the first time since 2016 that the Manatees opened their season at home.
New Faces:
The Manatees saw the debuts of two newcomers on the court: sophomore Lison Stoffel and freshman Anllelivis Caballero Fernandez.
Stoffel, a setter from Colmar, France, joined the team after transferring from Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas. Playing off the bench, she had 13 assists, eight digs and an ace.
Despite being with the Manateee for only a week, Caballero Fernandez made an immediate offensive impact as she had 14 kills, five digs and a block. At 6’6, she is the tallest player for the Manatees.
As far as from the returners, sophomores Kaylee Forman, Jadyn Wallen, Adelene Jideofor and Giulia Rodrigues, Jazmin Spencer and Kaysha Kahai-Enos played in the first match of the season. In fact, they were the only returners that played.
Of the six returners, Spencer and Forman had the best outings on the team. Spencer had a double-double of a tied carer-high 11 kills and 10 digs, while Forman had 22 assists.
Wallen had six kills and eight digs, while Jideofor had three kills and a block, Rodrigues had nine digs and a kill and Kahai-Enos had two kills, two digs and an ace.
Scouting Trinity College:
Trinity College is a bible college that represents the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) DII. They are lead by head coach Rachel Noble, who enters her 11th season as head coach.
Last season, the Tigers finished 5-11 overall with a 4-5 record in the NCCAA DII South Division.
Rising junior Madison Furtado lead the Tigers offensively last season with 153 kills to go along with 22 aces (second on the team) and 188 digs (third on the team). Rising sophomore Makayla Fassnaut followed Furtado with 134 kills and team-leading 30 blocks (18 solo).
Junior Julie Skipper lead the Tigers with 310 assists last season to go along with a team-leading 25 aces and 203 digs (second on the team), while sophomore Maliyah Parker lead the way with 238 digs and 15 aces (fourth on the team).
