SCF Baseball Ready for FSW

Bradenton, Fla - The SCF baseball team (16-7, 6-3 Citrus) return to action for Citrus Conference play as they face #11 Florida Southwestern (18-5, 6-3 Citrus) for their next conference series. Game one will take place at Robert C. Wynn Field Thursday night, March 6 at 6 pm while games two and three will head to the FSW Buccaneers Complex in Fort Myers Saturday afternoon, March 6 at 12 and 3 pm.

Game One - Landon O'Donnell (0-1, 5.91 ERA) vs Abel Abarrin (1-1, 3.47 ERA)

Game Two - Lochlan Radloff (3-1, 3.16 ERA) vs Andrew McLaughlin (5-0, 1.82 ERA)

Game Three - Oscar Hernandez (4-2, 2.01 ERA) vs Parker Burgess (2-0, 2.00 ERA)

Last Time Out:

After sweeping Daytona State in their last Citrus Conference series, the Manatees are coming off of a 11-9 win over St. Pete in a non-conference game this past Monday on the road. They are currently in a five-way tie for first place and are currently on a five-game winning streak, but are in fourth place due to their overall record.

Lochlan Locks it Down:

Freshman Lochlan Radloff was recently named the NJCAA Region 8 DI Pitcher of the Week after throwing a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts against Daytona State last week. Radloff is currently 3-1 with a 3.16 ERA, 16 walks and 37 strikeouts in 31.1 innings of work.

Radloff is not the only pitcher on a recent push as sophomore Oscar Hernandez has also played a factor into the pitching rotation. Hernandez is currently 4-2 with a 2.01 ERA, four walks and 30 strikeouts. In his last start against Daytona State, he threw six scoreless innings with four strikeouts for the win.

Hitting Like No Tomorrow:

On the hitting side of things, sophomores Walker Vanecek, Mario Trivella and Hayden Gustavon and freshmen Mattie Counts and Holden Brauner have lead the charge.

Vanecek is currently batting .355 with 22 hits, 14 runs, one home run and 12 RBI. He went 4-for-11 against Daytona State.

Trivella, who has improved on his contact, is currently batting .344 with 22 hits, 15 runs, three home runs, 17 RBI and five stolen bases. He went 2-for-5 with three RBI against St. Pete

Gsutavson is currently batting .333 with 21 hits, 21 runs, one home run and 17 RBI in the game. He went 1-for-4 in his last game.

Counts is batting .368 with 14 hits, 14 runs and five RBI. He went 3-for-4 with four runs last outing.

Brauner is batting .378 with 17 hits, 11 runs, one home run and nine RBI.

Wild Cards:

Redshirt sophomore Connor O'Sullivan (.297, 11 hits and six RBI), sophomores CJ Richard (.255, 16 hits, two home runs, 11 RBI and nine stolen bases), Allan Gil Fernandez (.311, 19 hits, three home runs and 16 RBI), Luke Boykin (.340, 16 hits, three home runs and 18 RBI) and Frank Villella (2-0, 6.67 ERA, six walks and six strikeouts), redshirt freshman Cole Dement (1-1, 2.08 ERA, one save, four walks and 20 strikeouts) and freshmen Myles Davis (.364, 20 hits, one home run and 15 RBI), Ben Ryan (.385, 15 hits, two home runs and 15 RBI; 1-1, 1.80 ERA, four walks and four strikeouts), Aidan Ray (1-0, 2.49 ERA, one save, 13 walks and 28 strikeouts) and Austin Monahan (1.64 ERA, three walks and six strikeouts) play as the key wild cards for the team.

Scouting FSW:

The Buccaneers are currently ranked #11 in the nation and are coming off of a 6-4 win over Pasco Hernando State while remaining second in conference play, despite losing their series over Hillsborough.

At the plate, sophomore Jake Mueller leads the way batting .309 with 25 hits, five home runs and 22 RBI, while classmate Luke Orfi leads batting .364 with 32 hits, three home runs, 18 RBI and 17 stolen bases.

On the mound, freshman Andrew McLaughlin is 5-0 with a 1.82 ERA, seven walks and 31 strikeouts.
