Lakeland, Fla. - The SCF beach volleyball team (5-2, 2-1 Region 8) pulled off a big split at the Judy and Joe Ruthven Beach Volleyball Courts in Lakeland as they defeated Barry University (1-1) 4-1 before falling to host Florida Southern (7-3) 5-0.
SCF vs Barry:
After the Buccaneers took the first point on court four, sophomore Addison Beaver and freshman Taylor Orris would secure the Manatees' first point on court two after defeating Isabella Rangel and Alyssa Talcott 21-14, 21-18.
From there, the Manatees would take the remaining three matches as redshirt freshman Bianca Guerrero and freshman Aryanna Spainhower defeated Daniella Hanse and Mia Azevedo 21-16, 21-14 on court five to take the lead before sophomore Morgan McGuire and freshman Liepa Kucinskaite sealed a 21-19, 21-16 win over Ellie Madrigal and Marina Azevedo on court three for the overall victory. Sophomore Aleksandra Wrobel and freshman Emma Acedo Lapieza defeated Ana Perez and Fiona Baker 21-16, 21-11 on court one.
SCF vs Florida Southern:
While all five pairs fell to the Mocs, Wrobel and Acedo Lapieza were the only pair to force their match to a third set.
Notes:
The win over Barry was Wrobel's 24th career win (4th all-time) with the Manatees, Beaver's 21st (5th all-time) and McGuire's 16th (9th all-time)

The Manatees will return to playing in conference as they face St. John's River State (1-5, 1-3 Region 8) and Lake Sumter State (3-5, 3-4 Region 8) in a doubleheader at the Cooper Beach Volleyball Complex in Jacksonville March 7 at 12 and 2 pm, hosted by the University of North Florida.
