2nd Herd Opens Suncoast Play vs Polk State

First and foremost, I want to say Happy New Year to everyone. Let's make 2020 a year to remember for SCF and the athletics program.

After finishing 2019 on a good note, the SCF basketball team (14-4) is set to open Suncoast Conference play as they welcome RV Polk State (11-4) to Hal Chasey Gymnasium Saturday afternoon, January 4 at 4 pm. This will be the Manatees first game of 2020.

Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming off of closing 2019 at the Josh Artis Classic in Melbourne where they defeated Palm Beach State 94-88 in a rematch before blowing out Coastal Alabama-North 108-85.

2019 Review:
The Manatees had one of their best seasons for 2019 when they began their season at home winning by a score of 96-86 against Palm Beach State. Their biggest game moment was against then #16 USC Salkahatchie (now #24) where the Manatees upset them by a score of 98-92. It was the first time in program history that the Manatees defeated a nationally ranked team. So far this season, the Manatees are 6-0 at home, 2-2 on the road and 6-2 on neutral grounds. In fact, this was the Manatees’ best season so far since the 2012-13 season.

Furthermore, the Manatees finished 24-11 to close out 2019. This included games from the from the second half of the 2018-19 season.
