2nd Herd Set for #2 FSW

The SCF basketball team (17-4, 3-0 Suncoast) is set for another challenge as they travel to the Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers to face #2 Florida Southwestern (19-1, 2-0 Suncoast) Wednesday night, January 15 at 7:30 pm.

Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming off of playing against Hillsborough at home where they won by a score of 91-84 in Suncoast play and are currently in first place in conference play. This was the first time in program history that the Manatees went 3-0 in Suncoast play.

 The Manatees enter the matchup against FSW with an eight-game winning streak on the line.

Moving Up in Polls:
Aside from their conference record and winning streak, the Manatees have moved up in the polls. After ranking #6 in the FCSAA Coaches Poll last week, the Manatees bumped up to #4 in the polls. It did not stop for the Manatees as they received three votes in the NJCAA National Polls. It is the first time in program history that the Manatees received votes nationally.

SCF joins as one of four teams in the national polls. #2 FSW, #10 Tallahassee and #14 Central Florida are the other three teams.

He Shoots, He Scores for Records:
Sophomore D'Moi Hodge continues his path on a scoring route. Hodge is currently averaging 26.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 2.4 steals and 2.1 blocks per game. Against HCC, Hodge had 26 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal and three blocks.

Hodge has already reached 1,000 career points and currently has 533 points this season and 1,131 in his career. The upcoming Cleveland State transfer is actually on pace to set a two school records, most points scored in a single season and most career points. Those two records are currently held by James Life (762, single season record; 1,341 program record). Hodge needs 230 points to break Life's single season scoring record and 211 for the all-time scoring record.

Nearing the Promise Land of 1,000:
Sophomore Isiah Dasher is trying to join Hodge as the second active member to score 1,000 career points. Dasher has 854 so far and remains 146 away from doing so. Dasher is currently averaging 16.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Against HCC, Dasher had 18 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Double-Double Down Under:
Freshman Marshall Kearing has been a big threat not just in scoring, but crashing the board as well. Kearing is averaging 11.4 points, 7.1 rebounds and two blocks per game. In the game against HCC, Kearing had a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds and one block. In fact, the native of Perth, Australia has five double-doubles this season, which ties

Scarborough Fair:
Sophomore Christnoff Scarborough continues his main role to back up Kearing. Scarborough is currently averaging 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds per game. Against HCC, Scarborough had a career-high 12 points and four rebounds.

Tornado Takedown:
Freshman Jordan Clark has made it clear on his role in the lineup. Despite scoring only two points with five rebounds and two assists against HCC, Clark is averaging 12.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Wild and Crazy:
Sophomore Max Bell-Ramos and Remy Robert II and redshirt freshmen Calvin McCutcheon and Jaylen Jones.

Bell-Ramos is averaging 3.8 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, while Robert II is averaging 4.2 points and 1.1 assists per game. Bell-Ramos had seven points and three rebounds against HCC, while Robert II had seven points and one assist.

McCutcheon is averaging 5.6 points and 3.8 assists per game, while Jones averages five points and 1.5 rebounds per game. Against HCC, McCutcheon had four points and two assists while Jones had five points, five rebounds and three assists.

Scouting FSW:
The Buccaneers are coming off of victory over Victory Rock Prep last Saturday where they won 110-61. As a result of their week in conference play, the Buccaneers bumped up to #2 in the national polls.

Sophomore Keon Ellis leads the team averaging 17.3 points and 2.5 steals per game. Ellis had 19 points and one steal against Victory Rock Prep.

Classmates Berrick JeanLouis and Jalen Finch follow Ellis in average scoring. JeanLouis is averaging 14.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, while Finch averages 10.3 points and five assists per game. Against Victory Rock Prep, JeanLouis had 17 points and two rebounds while Finch had six points and three assists.

As far as crashing the boards, freshman Jermaine Marshall leads the team averaging 7.9 rebounds and 7.7 points per game. Marshall had six points and seven rebounds against Victory Rock Prep.

Series History (2016-present):
Since FSW joined the Suncoast, the Manatees have yet to beat them as they are 0-10 against the Buccaneers.
