At the top of the third, the Lakehawks would get their first runs on the board thanks to a double steal, an RBI single by freshman Raquel Camuglia and a fielder’s choice Jeritza Montero cut the Manatees lead to 5-3. The Manatees would extend the lead to three in the bottom as Carlin scored on a balk to make it 6-3.

An RBI single by freshman Makenzie Heaton at the top of the fourth and a sacrifice bunt by classmate Kierston Smith at the top of the fifth cut the Manatees lead to 6-5, but the Manatees would respond back in the bottom of the fifth and bring it back to two thanks to Mullett driving in Schurr to make it 7-5 SCF.

At the top of the sixth, the Lakehawks would tie the game at 7-7 thanks to a two-run home run by Camuglia for her third of the season. It would signal the end for Hampton as Mullett would come in to pitch, while Copeland would move from third to shortstop and  sophomore Hannah Murray went from DP to third. Mullett was able to get the final two outs to end the top of the sixth.

After both teams failed to score in the seventh, the game would go to extra innings. At the top of the eighth, sophomore Morgan Herndon was placed on second per the international tiebreaker rule. After that, Herndon stole third and scored on a throwing error before Mullett struck out Montero to end the top of the eighth.
