SCF Tennis Set for ABAC

Bradenton, Fla - The #6 SCF tennis team (3-1, 1-1 Region 8) will now take a break from conference play while remaining at home at the SCF Tennis Complex as they welcome #11 Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College (ABAC) (3-5) Friday morning, March 11 at 9 am.


Last Time Out:

The Manatees are coming off of another tight matchup as they defeated NAIA Florida National University Wednesday afternoon by a score of 5-4. The 3-1 record for the Manatees is their best starts since the 2016 season.

In doubles play, sophomore Lou De Freitas Bonet and Sakurako Suzuki are the only unbeaten team in doubles as they are 3-0. They would win their doubles match against Florida National University 8-2.

In singles play, sophomore Kia Carvalho-Landell (#30) is the only one unbeaten as she is 4-0 at the #3 singles position. The native of Birmingham, England has committed to Notre Dame de Nemur University (NAIA) with two years of eligibility remaining.

De Freitas Bonet (#12) and Suzuki are both 3-1 on the season. Suzuki suffered her first loss via retirement against Florida National.


Scouting Abraham Baldwin:

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College is from Tifton, Georgia and represent NJCAA Region 17 (Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association). They are lead by Dale White, who enters his fifth season as head coach.

The Stallions, who are ranked #11 in the nation, are coming off of back-to-back 9-0 sweeps over #17 Central Alabama CC and #16 Wallace State CC-Hanceville. They will play #4 St. Pete College Thursday, March 10 prior to playing SCF.

In singles play, freshman Yazmin Barrios leads the Stallions with a 4-3 record in singles and 3-0 in doubles with classmate Nicole Dufour. 


Series History:

Overall, the Manatees are 4-0 against the Stallions. Last time both teams met was last season where the Manatees won 5-1 via inclement weather.
