Bradenton, Fla - The SCF beach volleyball team (6-7, 3-1 Region 8) are set to return home for their final three matchups as they welcome St. John's River State (4-7, 1-1 Region 8) to the UMR Beach Volleyball Plaza Thursday night, April 7 at 6:30 pm before playing in a doubleheader against St. John's River at 9 am and Palm Beach State (3-3, 3-1 Region 8) at 3:30 pm.
Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming off of a recent road trip where they competed in the Mercer Bears Beach Bash in Macon, Georgia. There, they finished 1-3 losing the first two matches to NCAA DII Saint Leo (3-2) and host Mercer (4-1) before splitting day two winning their first match over NCAA DII Carson-Newman University (3-2) and losing match two against Jacksonville University (5-0). The Manatees were the only junior college team to participate in the tournament.
Leading the path for the Manatees is the duo of sophomore Ana Broadhead and freshman Yeva Serdiuk. The pair is currently 5-0 at the #1 spot.
Following Broadhead and Serdiuk is the sophomore duo of Kayla David and Anna Chechelyntska as they are 3-2 at the #2 spot.
Sophomore Soundoff:
The night matchup against St. John's River State will be dubbed as 'sophomore night' as head coach Lynn Burnett will recognize seven sophomores on the team: Broadhead, Chechelyntska, David, Kaylee Forman, Giulia Rodrigues, Carolina Moffatt and Danielle Conover.
Scouting St. John's River State:
The Vikings are coming off of a big weekend trip in California on March 18-19 where they went 3-2 there. On day one, they swept and shutout Santa Ana College and Saddleback College (both CCCAA) by scores of 5-0 each before finishing day two 1-2 after losing to the University of Nebraska 5-0 and Irvine Valley College (CCCAA) 3-2 before shutting out California Lutheran University (NCAA DIII) 5-0.
Currently, the Vikings sit in third place in conference.
Scouting Palm Beach State:
The Panthers are coming off of a doubleheader loss to Jacksonville (3-2) and Saint Leo (5-0)
