The SCF volleyball team (2-13, 0-2 Suncoast) opened Suncoast Conference play on the road but were shutout 3-0 to #10 Hillsborough (17-3, 2-0 Suncoast) (22-25, 14-25, 14-25) and #17 St. Pete College (7-1, 2-0 Suncoast) (12-25, 9-25, 14-25). With both losses, the Manatees are now 5-15 against the Hawks and 7-13 against the Titans.
vs HCC:
Offensively against the Hawks, sophomore Lakeesha Esseboom and freshman Leilani Wilcox-Nanai led the team with five kills each. Esseboom added three digs, while Wilcox-Nanai added an ace and eight digs. Sophomore Barbora Tichakova and freshman Lisa Jaunet added four kills each with Tichakova adding two blocks (one solo). Freshman Gracee Carpino had 14 assists and one dig.
Defensively, sophomore Sydney Jaco and freshman Brooke Henry had 10 digs each. Jaco added an assist, while Henry added an ace and two assists.
Freshman Isabel Martin led the Hawks with 16 kills and seven digs, while classmate Zoe Konjer had 24 assists and four digs.
Defensively, sophomore Olivia Piazza had 13 digs to go with her eight kills while sophomore Caroline Molossi-Benke had 10 digs and three aces
vs SPC:
Against the Titans, freshman Jazmin Spencer led the team with four kills while Wilcox-Nanai, Tichakova and sophomore Daviya Bernard had three kills each. Wilcox-Nanai added a dig and an assist, Tichakova added one block and an ace and Bernard added two blocks.
Esseboom led the team defensively with five digs while adding two kills, while Jaco and sophomore Hannah Strickland added four digs each. Jaco also added one assist.
Sophomore Andressa Praise and freshman Petra Neciporuka had 10 kills each for the Titans. Praise added two solo blocks, while Neciporuka added four aces and three digs.
Defensively for the Titans, freshman Laura Ovelar led the way with four solo blocks while sophomore Kateryna Dashevska had seven digs.
With her 14 digs in both matches, Jaco now has 1,068 career digs.
