SCF VB Struggles in Crossover Match @ MDC and Broward

The SCF volleyball team (2-11) struggled in their FCSAA crossover matches as they were shutout 3-0 by Broward College (8-3) (16-25, 18-25, 29-31) and Miami Dade (13-2) (12-25, 17-25, 21-25). With the losses, the Manatees are 2-15 against the Sharks and 1-4 against the Seahawks.

@ Broward:
Offensively, it was the sophomore duo of Lakeesha Esseboom and Daviya Bernard that led the Manatees offensively as they finished with seven kills each. Esseboom also added five digs and two blocks while Bernard added two digs and three blocks (one solo). Sophomore Hannah Strickland and freshman Gracee Carpino had double digit assists (Strickland: 12 assists; Carpino: 11 assists). Strickland added four digs, while Carpino added six digs.

Freshman Lisa Jaunet followed Esseboom and Bernard with six kills and four blocks (one solo), while sophomore Barbora Tichackova and freshman Leilani Wilcox-Nanai had four kills each. Tichackova added five blocks, one ace and seven digs while Wilcox-Nanai added six digs.

Sophomore Sydney Jaco finished with 15 digs and three assists.

@MDC:
Bernard would lead the Manatees offensively with seven kills, while Esseboom followed with six kills and three blocks and freshman Jazmin Spencer added five kills. Freshman Gracee Carpino had 14 assists and four digs.

Defensively, Tichackova had four blocks to go with one kill while Jaco added 18 digs and one assist. Jaco's 33 combined digs put her at 1,054 in her career.

Other Suncoast Scores:
#11 HCC (14-2) defeated Palm Beach State (3-1) and Indian River State (3-2) in their crossover matches.

RV St. Pete College (5-1) defeated IRS and PBSC both by a score of 3-1.

Florida Southwestern (8-4) split their crossover matches as they were shutout by MDC before winning 3-2 over Broward.

Up Next:
The Manatees remain on the road as they prepare to open Suncoast Conference play. They will travel to Tampa to face #11 HCC Tuesday night at 6 pm before traveling to St. Pete to face RV SPC Thursday night (9/26) at 6 pm.
