Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming off a completing a successful doubleheader Saturday against Miami Dade, where they won by scores of 11-8 and 4-3.
Leading the path currently is freshman Harry Long. Long is currently batting .333 with two home runs and 11 RBI. In the doubleheader, He was 3-for-5 with two home runs and nine RBI. In fact, his first collegiate home run was a grand slam, which naturally was also his first collegiate grand slam.
Additionally, sophomores Jack Anderson, Tucker Mitchell and Owen Ayers have also been hitting hot bats lately.
While he did not play in the doubleheader, Anderson is currently batting .276 with a home run and six RBI.
Mitchell is batting .345 with six RBI. Mitchell was 3-for-3 in the doubleheader with three doubles and an RBI.
Owen Ayers is batting .289 with a home run and six RBI. He was 2-for-7 with a home run and two RBI in the doubleheader.
On the mound, sophomore Cole Ayers is currently 1-0 with a 6.92 ERA and 17 strikeouts. He pitched a no-decision in the first game of the doubleheader where he gave up eight run with six strikeouts in four innings.
Lately, sophomore David Barrett, who primarily plays relief, has been pitching well for the Manatees. Barrett earned his first win in the doubleheader against Miami Dade where he pitched three scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Currently he is 1-0 with a 3.00 ERA, one save and 10 strikeouts.
Scouting Santa Fe:
The Saints are coming off of a recent win over Pasco-Hernando by a score of 10-8. They had to cancel their previous game against South Florida State due to heavy rainfall on their facilities.
Freshman Coy Phillips leads the team batting .423 with four RBI and ten stolen bases, while classmate Nick Herndon is leading the team with seven RBI.
Freshman Robb Adams is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts. In his last start, Adams threw six and a third innings with seven strikeouts in the 14-2 win against St. Pete College.
Series History:
Overal, the Manatees are 4-3 against the Saints. They played earlier in the season in the Manatees’ home opener where the Manatees won 13-9 in a come from behind win.
