SCF VB Falls in Second Chance vs #1 FSW

 Ft. Myers, Fla - The woes for the SCF volleyball team (0-8, 0-7 Suncoast) continue as they fell to #1 FSW (13-2, 8-0 Suncoast) 3-0 (18-25, 16-25, 14-25) at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Ft. Myers. With the loss, the Manatees are now 0-6 against the Buccaneers, while FSW's winning streak continues at 10 straight matches.


Offensively, it was freshman Anllel Caballero Fernadez that lead the Manatees as she finished with eight kills, three aces, three digs and four blocks. Classmate Lana Sandanom followed with six kills, one ace, two digs and a block. Sophomore Jazmin Spencer rounded out the offense with four kills, seven digs and a block.

Defensively, sophomore Adelene Jideofor lead the way with seven blocks (one solo) to go along with one kill and two digs, while classmate Giulia Rodrigues had nine digs to go along with one ace.


Sophomore Lison Stoffel lead the way with 14 assists, one kill and three digs, while classmate Kaylee Forman had five assists and one dig.


Sophomores Faith Blaise (one dig) and freshmen Taryn Wright (one ace) and Shelby McGee (one dig) also contributed in the match.


For the Buccaneers, sophomore Maria Petkova was one dig shy of a double-double as she lead the team with 11 kills, nine digs and a block. Classmate Jonisha Carr followed with seven kills, and three blocks.


Sophomore Fiona Baker lead with a double-double of 22 assists and 10 digs, while freshmen Arianna Rossi and Barbara Koehler each had two aces. Rossi added eight digs to her name, while Koehler added two kills, an assist, four digs and a block.

Defensively, sophomore Riley Oglevie lead with five blocks to go along with four kills.


In the first set, the Manatees jumped off to a 7-4 lead, but a costly service error caught them off-guard as the Buccaneers took a 13-7 lead on a 9-0 run before they took the first set. The second and third sets were no different for the Buccaneers as they sealed the deal for the win.


Up Next:

The Manatees still continue to look for their first win as they return home to Hal Chasey Gymnasium Saturday, October 2. The Manatees will host a doubleheader as they welcome Polk State (2-7, 1-4 Suncoast) at and RV Monroe College (20-3).
