FGCU MSOC vs Charlotte Preview

The FGCU men's soccer team (6-6-2, 3-0-1 A-SUN) wraps up its non-conference schedule squaring off against No. 10 Charlotte (8-1-4, 3-0-3 C-USA) Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the FGCU Soccer Complex.

The Green and Blue:
FGCU is coming off a 2-0 road win over Liberty that saw sophomore forward O'Vonte Mullings net both goals as he earned back-to-back A-SUN Player of the Week honors. He leads the team in points (16) and goals (seven), both of which rank him second in the A-SUN. Three different Eagles have registered at least three assists this season.

In net the past five games, Connor Gavigan has gone 3-2-0, registering his first clean sheet of the year versus the Flames.

Tuesday night's match will be the 15th of the season for FGCU and also the 10th opponent on the Eagles' schedule that have either been ranked or receiving votes in national polls. Entering this week, the Eagles have an RPI of 80 which leads all A-SUN programs – their RPI was a high as 20 after the first month of play.

Scouting the 49ers:
Charlotte is coming off of 0-0 double overtime match against #12 FIU. Teddy Chaouche leads the squad in points (19), goals (six) and assists (seven). Including him, 10 49ers have scored with seven tallying at least two goals. Elliot Panicco has started all 13 matches, boasting a 0.57 GAA, pairing that with six clean sheets.

Currently ranked 10th in the country, Charlotte reached as high as No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches' poll this season. In the latest RPI standings, they come in at No. 18.

Both clubs met for the first time last season in North Carolina as FGCU dropped a 1-0 decision to open the 2018 campaign.
