FGCU MSOC vs NJIT Preview

 The FGCU men's soccer team (7-6-2, 3-0-1 A-SUN) closes out its regular-season home slate this Saturday on Senior Night hosting the NJIT (6-4-4, 3-1-0 A-SUN) in a battle for first place in the league standings.

30 minutes prior to the game's 7 p.m. kickoff, the Eagles will honor its senior class members in TC Anderson, Thomas Delplace, Ivan Rosales, Jahan Rajaee, Joao Burti, Miguel Perez, Ryan Medilah, Ernest Mitchell, Jomar Alvarez, Shak Adams and Tom Denat.

The Green and Blue:
FGCU is coming off a 1-0 win over #17 Charlotte Tuesday night at home. Perez netted the game-winner in the 33rd minute as the Eagles held the Niners to five shots (one on goal) in the second half. Forward O'Vonte Mullings leads the Eagles in points (16) with seven goals and two assists. On offense, 11 Eagles have scored for a total of 26 goals along with 22 assists.  In net the past six games, Connor Gavigan has gone 4-2-0 with a pair of clean sheets.

Of the 15 matches so far for FGCU, 10 opponents have either been ranked or receiving votes in national polls. Currently, the Eagles have an RPI of 62 which leads all A-SUN programs – their RPI was a high as 20 after the first month of play.

Scouting the Highlanders:
NJIT comes into the Nest after facing Lipscomb on the road winning 4-3 and are currently in third in the A-SUN. Rene White fuels the attack with 13 goals along with two helpers for a team-leading 28 points. Alejandro Rabell and Andrew Nino each have six assists. Samuel Reisgys boasts a 3-2-3 record in goal, posting a 1.33 goals against average.

FGCU leads the all-time series 3-0, outscoring NJIT in that span, 11-1.
