5th Herd Takes Scrappy Win Over Polk State

Bradenton, Fla - While the end of the game was in the heat of the moment, the SCF basketball team (7-4) were put to a scrappy and aggressive test Friday night as they defeated Polk State (4-5) in a rematch by a score of 79-69. With the win, the Manatees are now 14-20 against the Eagles.

In the first half, it would go back and forth between both teams as they traded shot after shot. The Manatees would however would take the first half 31-29.

In the second half, Polk State tried to edge the Manatees and changed the lead a couple of times, but that made the Manatees push hard and continued their onslaught thanks to crucial baskets and steals from redshirt freshman Zach Smith before sophomores Cobey Harraway and Isaiah 'Ziggy' Josue sealed the deal in the end as the Manatees claimed the win.

Despite the ending, Harraway would be the offensive leader for the Manatees as he finished with 19 points (8-for-12 FG, 2-for-4 3PT, 1-for-2 FT), four rebounds, three assists, five steals and two blocks. Sophomore Ronnail Tape would follow with 14 points (6-for-9, 2-for-2 3PT), six rebounds and one steals. Classmate Skylar Wicks had 11 points (4-for-9 FG, 1-for-3 3PT, 2-for-2 FT), three rebounds and three assists, while freshman Josh Ijeh rounded out the order with 10 points (4-for-6 FG, 3-for-4 FT), nine rebounds, one assist and two blocks.

Sophomore Ametri Moss had nine points (4-for-6 FG, 1-for-1 3PT), two rebounds, one steal and two blocks.

Smith (six points, one rebound and three steals), Josue (six points, three rebounds, two assists and one assist) and freshmen Malyk Rebetez (three points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals), Kasheem Grady (three points, four rebounds and one steal), Elijah 'Slim' Terry (two points and two rebounds) and Dresean Knight (three rebounds and two blocks) also contributed in the game.
