Bradenton, Fla - Redshirt sophomore Skylar Wicks earned his first collegiate basketball award as he was named the NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week. Wicks is the first Manatee this season to earn the weekly accolade.
In the last three games, the former Missouri State Bear guard averaged 25.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and two steals per game while 52.4% from the 3-point line.
In all three games, Wicks scored at least 11 points in them (22 vs St. Pete, 11 vs Polk State, 43 vs Gulf Coast State) while helping the Manatees to eight straight wins.
Wicks and the Manatees will look to stay on a strong pace as they travel to Daytona for the Florida JUCO Shootout against Gulf Coast State and Pensacola State Saturday and Sunday, December 10 and 11.
