FGCU MBB @ UNF Preview

The FGCU men's basketball team continues its road swing with a trip to North Florida at 5 p.m. Jan. 12 inside UNF Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The A-SUN Conference showdown will feature an Eagles (5-12, 0-2 A-SUN) squad on a four-game losing streak, while the Ospreys are currently sitting at 7-10 overall and 1-1 in the league.

Last Time Out:
FGCU dropped a tight 61-56 contest at North Alabama Tuesday night in Flowers Hall. Junior Decardo Day led all scorers with a career-high 20 points. He went 5 of 10 from the field and converted a career-high eight free throws. Senior Schadrac Casimir went 7-for-8 from the line to add 13 points and a season-high six rebounds.

FGCU shot 35 percent (14-for-40) from the field, 31.3 percent (5-for-16) from behind the 3-point arc and 67.6 percent (23-for-34) at the free-throw line. UNA shot 43.1 percent (22-for-51) overall, 32 percent (8-for-25) from deep range and 75 percent (9-for-12) at the charity stripe.

The Eagles outrebounded North Alabama (32-31) and finished with more steals (7-6).

Scouting UNF:
The Ospreys have picked up wins in two of its last three contests, including an A-SUN victory over North Alabama (96-67). Most recently, the Ospreys fell 81-66 on the road at Lipscomb.

UNF features leading scorer and rebounder junior Noah Horchler, who is averaging 15.6 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per game, junior Garrett Sams (12.5 ppg) also averages double-digit scoring, while JT Escobar is third on the team in scoring (11.2 ppg) and junior Wajid Aminu is second in rebounding (5.1 rpg).

North Florida is 1-9 on the road this season but owns a perfect 5-0 record at home.
