After playing an exhibition match against NCAA DII Florida Southern, the SCF tennis team (1-0) opened their season with an 8-1 win over NAIA Southeastern University to open their season.
Beginning with doubles, the Manatees claimed all three doubles to make it 3-0 as team of sophomore Camille Portalier and freshman Sara Ramirez Goncalves defeated sophomores Angelique Myrtil and Gabby Marshall 8-0 at #2 doubles.
Sophomores Diarra Thomas and Laura Illanes-Rodriguez would follow with an 8-6 win over freshmen Mia Dunagan and Priscila Baptista at #3 doubles before the Jamal sisters, sophomore Sara and freshman Zeba, defeated junior Sharian Ricardo and freshman Beatrice Letizia 8-5 at #1 doubles.
Going into singles competition, Thomas would secure the first singles win as she defeated Marshall 6-1, 6-2 at #5 singles. It didn't take long for the Manatees to secure another point as Ramirez-Goncalves defeated Ricardo 6-1, 6-2 at #1 singles and secured the match for the Manatees.
With the score 5-0 SCF, freshman Britain Botsford would pull away with another point as she defeated Baptista 6-4, 6-3 at #4 singles, but the Flames would get their first point on the board as Portalier would fall 6-1, 7-5 to Letizia. After Sara Jamal defeated Myrtil with 7-5 pair decision, Illanes-Rodriguez would secure the final match with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Dunagan.

The Manatees will play two more exhibitions against NCAA DII St. Leo (February 1) and Rollins College (February 6) before playing their opening conference match against ASA Miami on Wednesday, February 13 at 4 pm.
