FGCU S&D @ FIU Recap

The FGCU swimming and diving team (6-8, 2-1 CCSA) suffered a 198-102 loss to FIU (2-1) Saturday afternoon at the Biscayne Bay Aquatic Center.

"Under less than ideal conditions, we had some great individual performances," said head coach Dave Rollins. "Congrats to Tina and Gracie for winning events in their final dual meet as an Eagle, and Rebecca for continuing to excel in the 100 free. Some let the conditions affect their preparations and there was not an event contested today where we weren't capable of coming away with a win. We have three weeks to refine our details and shift our focus to getting healthier in order to be at our best at the CCSA Championships."

Senior Gracie Redding captured the first of three individual first-place finishes for the Eagles Saturday afternoon. The Orlando native touched the wall with a time of 23.68 while sophomore Rebecca Moynihan claimed the following event, the 100 free with a swim of 52.02.

Senior Christina Kaas Elmgreen  rounded out the list as the senior produced a time of 56.57 in the 100 fly. Elmgreen also went on to place second in the 200 fly (2:05.90)

All said FGCU registered seven second-place individual finishes, led by sophomore Petra Halmai who had three – 100 breast (1:05.27), 200 breast (2:20.53), and 200-yard IM (2:08.33).

Senior Linda Shaw recorded a pair starting with the 1000-yard free (10.34.79) and ending with the 500-yard free (5:11.83).

The Eagles came into the meet down three of their divers as senior Margot Kessler scored for the Green and Blue, placing fifth in both the 1-meter (229.80) and 3-meter (202.80).
