Hoping to bounce back, the FGCU men's tennis team prepares for their home-opening match against Georgia Southern. The Eagles (0-4) are coming off a tough road trip as they lost to UNC-Wilmington (3-4), Brigham Young (BYU) (1-6), Florida State (4-0) and former A-SUN conference member ETSU (2-4).
Schedule Change:
Originally, FGCU was scheduled to face Bethune-Cookman on Friday, February 2 at 5 pm, but it was cancelled, so the matchup between FGCU and GSU will be the official home opener.
Expected Players:
Sophomore Felipe Ramirez was named A-SUN Player of the Week after his performances on the road. Ramirez joined junior Felipe Escobar in the same category.
Scouting Georgia Southern:
The Georgia Southern Eagles (0-4) recently competed against Miami where they lost 0-7.
Sophomore Stefano Di Aloy earned the only singles win for the Eagles in their last match against Incarnate Word. Georgia Southern also earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.
Series History:
FGCU leads the all-time series 3-2 after earning a 4-3 victory in Statesboro in 2016.
FGCU's first home match of the season is slated to begin on February 3 at 5 p.m. at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
