FGCU WBB vs Upstate Recap

The FGCU women's basketball team (23-4, 9-1 A-SUN) continued their dominance in conference play as they slayed Upstate (9-16, 4-6 A-SUN) by a score of 88-44. With the win, FGCU is now 19-2 overall against Upstate. Pretty much every one of FGCU's players scored at least one point.

The duo of sophomore Tytionia Adderly and redshirt senior Taylor Grandijan stole a majority of the show. Adderly secured her eighth double-double of her career and the fourth this season.

Adderly finished with 16 points (7-10 FG, 2-4 FT), 13 rebounds (five offensive, eight defensive), five assists, two blocks and three steals. With her five offensive boards, Adderly passed Katie Meador (193) and Kate Schrader (194) in career offensive rebounds and is now fourth all-time (195).

Grandijan finished with a season-high 22 points (7-11 FG, 6-10 3FG, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one steal. With her 22 points, Grandijan, who recently passed video coordinator Stephanie Haas (1,135), now has 1,158 career points and is 28 points away from passing Shannon Murphy (1,185) for sixth all-time.

Sophomore Nas Ulel had 10 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Senior Rose Julien had nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Senior Erica Nelson had five points, two rebounds, eight assists and one steal.

Off the Eagles' bench, redshirt senior Jessica Cattani had eight points, two rebounds and one steal.

Redshirt senior China Dow had five points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Redshirt junior Lisa Zderadicka had two points, one rebound and four assists.

Redshirt freshman Chandler Ryan had six points, one rebound, two assists and one steal.

Freshman Alyssa Blair had two points, one rebound and two assists.

Freshman Sheahen Dowling had one point, two rebounds, one assist and two steals.

Sophomore Samantha Kisiel had two points and two rebounds.

For the Spartans, no players from the starting lineup or bench scored in double digits.

Senior Brittany Delva and freshman Michaela Gibbons had nine points each. Delva added one rebound and three assists while Gibbons added two rebounds.

Sophomore Riley Popplewell had eight points, three rebounds and one steal.

In addition to both Adderly and Grandijan, the battle of rebounds remains active. Adderly's 13 rebounds put her at 471 career rebounds while Grandijan is set at 470 after her two rebounds.

Up next, FGCU wraps up their two game road as they face NJIT on Monday February 12 at 7 P.M.
