SCF SB Set for Pasco-Hernando

Bradenton, Fla - The SCF softball team (9-5) will wrap up their six-game road trip before coming home as they will travel to New Port Richey to take on Pasco-Hernando State (7-7) for a doubleheader at the PHSC Softball Complex Sunday afternoon, February 20. Game times are at 1 and 3 pm.


Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming off of breaking a three-game losing streak from a loss at home against #13 CCF and being swept by Santa Fe on the road. They swept their part of the Courtney Miller Invitational in Longwood by defeating South Georgia State (8-6) and Indian River State (3-2).

Freshmen Chantel Schurr and Gabi Nicholson lead the way for the Manatees offense. Schurr is currently batting .324 with 12 hits, three home runs and 12 RBI, while Nicholson is batting .364 with 16 hits and 11 RBI. At the Courtney Miller Invitational, Schurr was 1-for-7 with two RBI while Nicholson was 2-for-6 with two RBI.

Classmate Presley O'Kimosh has also played a strong role in batting. O'Kimosh is batting .324 with 12 hits, a home run and 12 RBI. She was 1-for-4 with two runs at the Courtney Miller Invitational.

On the mound, sophomores Samantha Hampton and Gracie Mullett play their roles strongly.

Hampton is currently 4-1 with a 2.65 ERA, 11 walks and 27 strikeouts. In her last start, she pitched a complete game against Indian River State with one walk and three strikeouts.

Mullett, who rotates between pitching and batting, is currently 3-3 with a 3.18 ERA, one save, nine walks and 20 strikeouts on the mound. At the plate, she is batting .275 with 11 hits and five RBI. Mullett only batted at the invitational as she went 4-for-8 with an RBI.


Speed Kills (Air Force Strong Style):
Sophomore Mya Achenbach and freshman Olivia Siebert played the key roles on the basepaths. Achenbach, who returned to the lineup at the Courtney Miller Invitational, is batting .351 with 13 hits, a home run, four RBI and three stolen bases, while Siebert is batting .361 with 13 hits, six RBI and six stolen bases. While Siebert didn't play in the invitational, Achenbach did and finished 4-for-6 with four runs and three stolen bases.


Wildcard Factorization:
Sophomore Tori Copeland, Remi Hebert and Alli Bloski play the wildcard roles.

Copeland is currently batting .345 with 10 hits, one home run and one RBI. She was 3-for-7 with two runs at the invitational. In the series against Santa Fe, Copeland hit her first collegiate home run.

Hebert is 2-1 with a 5.45 ERA and two strikeouts. She pitched a complete game at the Invitational and had two hits.

Although her .129 batting average is not up yet, Bloski still has brought in four RBI. She was 2-for-6 with a run at the invitational.


Scouting Pasco-Hernando:
The Bobcats are coming off of being swept by #13 Central Florida by scores of 8-0 and 9-1.

Sophomore Tierra Riley is batting .333 with 14 hits and eight RBI, while freshman Ashley Nickisher also has 14 hits while batting .318 with a home run and six RBI.

On the mound, freshman Jasmine Fontela is 3-0 with a 2.60 ERA, seven walks and 14 strikeouts.


Series History:
Overall, the Manatees are 3-0 against the Bobcats.
