FGCU W. Golf: Lady Furman Invitational Preview

Hoping to bounce back for the next tournament, the FGCU women's golf team return to South Carolina to prepare for the Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, South Carolina, hosted by Furman University.

"We are excited to get back on the road to Furman this weekend and be able to test our games against some of the best teams in the country," FGCU head coach Sarah Trew said. "We have been putting in some hard work over the past week and have seen some really low scores. This should give us a boost of confidence. We are eager to show that we can play with anyone in the country."

Last Time Out:
The Eagles opened with their first tournament with the Golfweek Program Challenge in Pawley's Island, South Carolina. They began the tournament in 5th place before ending the tournament 10th out of 14 teams.

Senior Kelsey Holbert finished in the top 25 tied for 22nd with a final score of 222 (+9). In the second round, Holbert had the lowest score out of all the Eagles with a 68.

Grad student Lexie Flerlage made her debut with Eagles. The Venice, Florida native transferred from Florida State with one year of eligibility remaining.

Trew has set up the following lineup for the invitational:

4. Laura Edmonds
5. Kate Williamson

Nassar and Willamson are making their season debuts while Edmonds is making her collegiate debut.

 Nassar is the reigning A-SUN Freshman of the Year and a member of the A-SUN All-Freshman Team while Williamson enters as a former A-SUN All-Freshman Team, an A-SUN All-Conference Second Team member and a two-time WGCA Scholar All-American.

Edmonds is coming off  several wins in the South Florida Junior PGA.
