FGCU XC: Paul Short Run Preview

The FGCU men's and women's cross country teams prepare for their next meet as they compete in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, hosted by Lehigh University. The meet will take place on the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course.

Last Time Out:
The Eagles competed in the Fordham Fiasco on Sept. 8. The men finished third out of 13 teams while the women finished seventh.

On the men's side, it was sophomore Lucas Kiprotich that had the best finish. Kiprotich finished third with a time of 26:07.58. Other runners on the men's team that finished in the top 25 are grad student Ronny Greenup (18th- 27:03.76), freshman Austin Redondo (21st- 27:13.45) and sophomore Boniface Mutai (23rd- 27:21.17).

On the women's side, freshman Jillian Felton lead the way with a 22nd place finish with a time of 20:08.36.

Meet Breakdown and History:
The men's 8k race will begin at 11 a.m. while the women's 6k race will commence at 1 p.m.

This will be the 45th taking of the Paul Short Run and will feature 6,000 runners from nearly 450 colleges and high schools expected to compete this year, the largest intercollegiate cross country meet in the nation.

Overall, 131 colleges and universities will be competing in the meet from the NCAA level (58 NCAA DI, 25 NCAA DII, 48 NCAA DIII), United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA: Albany College of Pharmacy and PSU-Brandywine), NAIA (Ave Maria) and the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS: University of Guleph, a university from Guleph, Ontario, Canada).

Also competing with FGCU from the A-SUN will be UNF.
