2nd Herd Readies for Pasco-Hernando on the Road

The SCF basketball team (1-0) will now set their sights on the road as they travel to New Port Richey to take on Pasco-Hernando State (0-2) Wednesday night, November 6 at 7 pm. This will be the first road game for the Manatees.

Last Time Out:
The Manatees opened their season at home as they defeated Palm Beach State 96-86 at Hal Chasey Gym.

Debuts:
So far on the team, four true freshman players made their debuts for the Manatees, Jordan Clark, J-Quon Ferrol, Marshal Kearning and Michael Gavin. Calvin McCutcheon also made his debut as a redshirt freshman after sitting out last season.

Clark, a product from Booker High School, averaged 15.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game at Booker. In his first game with the Manatees, Clark led all freshman with 24 points, with nine of his points being behind the arc, three rebounds and two steals.

Ferrol, a product of Okeechobee High School, averaged 13.3 points and nine rebounds per game for the Brahmans. Ferrol had three points and a rebound against PBSC.

Kearing, a native of Perth, Australia, finished with four points, five rebounds, a steal and a team-leading three blocks against PBSC.

Gavin, a product of Lake Mary Preparatory, had five points, a rebound, an assist and two steals against PBSC.

After sitting out last season, McCutcheon had two points, six rebounds and four assists against PBSC.

Returners:
As far as sophomores, Isiah Dasher, D'Moi Hodge and Christnoff "Chris" Scarborough lead the way.

Dasher finished last season with 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds last season while being named a member of the All-Suncoast First team. Dasher had 16 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Hodge finished last season with 19.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.1 steals and 2.1 blocks per game while joining Dasher on the All-Suncoast First team and being named on the FCSAA All-State Team and Suncoast All-Academic Team. Hodge finished with 27 points, seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks against PBSC.

Playing off the bench, Scarborough finished with 10 points and a team-leading eight rebounds against PBSC. Scarborough finished last season scoring 4.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game while being named on the Suncoast All-Academic Team.

Scouting Pasco-Hernando:
Pasco-Hernando is NJCAA Region 8 as a part of DII. The Bobcats are coming off of opening their season on the road in Tampa falling to Hillsborough 81-71 before losing in their home opener to Johnson University (NCCAA) by a score of 88-67. The Bobcats finished last season 10-15 overall with a 3-1 record in division two.

The team is led offensively by sophomores Antonio Tucker and Daniel Derice. Tucker is averaging 14 points and seven rebounds per game, while Derice averages 13 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Tucker had 15 points and five rebounds against Johnson, while Derice had a double-double of 10 points and 14 points.

Freshman Warren Mclymont plays a big role for the Bobcats as he is averaging 12 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Mclymont had 10 points and seven rebounds against Johnson.

Series History (2012-Present):
Overall, the Manatees are 8-5 against the Bobcats. Last season, the Manatees defeated the Bobcats twice (8/14/18: 113-74, 8/28/18: 104-73) while the Bobcats last win over the Manatees was on January 4, 2017 where the final score of that game was 89-84.
