SCF Baseball Set for Four Games at Home

Bradenton, Fla - The RV SCF baseball team (9-5) look to avenge their last home loss from earlier this season as they return to Robert C. Wynn Field for the next four games. The Manatees will welcome #4 College of Central Florida (11-0) Wednesday night, February 15 at 5 pm before welcoming Tallahassee CC (7-1) for a three-game series on Friday and Saturday, February 17 and 18. Friday's game will start at 6 pm, while Saturday's games (both at seven innings) will be a doubleheader starting at 12 and 4 pm.

Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming off of earning a 4-2 victory over the University of Tampa JV team on the road after losing the last two games to Indian River State (15-2) and Pasco-Hernando (5-4).


At the plate, sophomore Kevin Karstetter leads the way for the Manatees batting .362 with 21 hits, five home runs and 21 RBI. Karstetter went 2-for-5 with an RBI against Tampa JV.

Freshman Erick Almonte follows Karstetter batting .362 with 17 hits and 11 RBI. Almonte was 1-for-5 with two stolen bases against Tampa JV.

On the basepaths, sophomore Brayden Woodburn leads the way. The upcoming transfer for the University of Tampa is batting .231 with nine hits, three RBI, 19 walks and 11 stolen bases. He was 1-for-5 with two stolen bases against his new alma mater.

On the mound, freshman Ed Wagner leads the way for the Manatees going 2-0 with a 1.84 ERA, four walks and 21 strikeouts. In his last outing, Wagner threw 5.2 innings of relief with 10 strikeouts against Pasco-Hernando. He will start game one against TCC on Friday night.

Classmate Trey Clucas is also playing a strong game on the mound. Clucas, a transfer from Rice University, is 1-0 with a 1.61 ERA, four walks and nine strikeouts.

On the relief side of the mound, freshman Jalen Hairston is 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA, two walks and six strikeouts.


Scouting CCF:
The Patriots are ranked #4 in the nation on the NJCAA Preseason Top 25 Poll. They are coming off of a 12-2 seven inning win over Florida Southern College JV. They are currently on an 11-game winning streak since January 27 against Florida Southwestern.


Freshman Edwin Toribio leads the Patriots in batting. Toribio is batting .405 with 17 hits, two home runs and 14 RBI. Classmate Kainen Jorge leads all the Patriots with four home runs while batting .263 with 10 hits and eight RBI.

On the mound, sophomore James Hill leads all starting pitchers at 3-0 with a 1.84 ERA, six walks and 16 strikeouts. 

Overall, the Manatees are 11-9-2 against the Patriots.

Scouting Tallahassee CC:
The Eagles are coming off of sweeping their series against Shelton State CC at home by scores of 6-3 (7), 9-6 (7) and 12-2. They are entering the contest on a three-game winning streak.

Redshirt freshman Jesus Vanegas lead the team at the plate batting .586 with 17 hits, three home runs and 18 RBI.

On the mound, freshman Austin Asbill is 1-1 with a 5.91 ERA and 13 strikeouts.

Overall, the Manatees are 20-6 against the Eagles.
