SCF VB Readies for EFSC

Bradenton, Fla - The SCF volleyball team (0-4, 0-3 Suncoast) remain on the hunt for their first win of the season as they welcome Eastern Florida State College (2-4, 0-3 Suncoast) to Hal Chasey Gymnasium Tuesday night, September 14 at 6 pm.

Last Time Out:

The Manatees are coming off of a tough 3-1 loss against then #4 Florida Southwestern State (Now #2 as of today). Despite the loss, it was one of the Manatees' best outings.

Leading the path offensively are freshman Anllel Caballero Fernandez and sophomore Jazmin Spencer. Caballero Fernandez has 47 kills, 32 digs and six blocks in her name, while Spencer has 45 kills, six aces and 26 digs of her own. Against FSW, Caballero had her second double-double with a total of 11 kills and 14 digs, while Spencer had six kills and four digs.

Sophomore Kaylee Forman continues the path as the lead setter. Forman currently leads with 121 assists, in which she had 31 to go along with seven digs against FSW.

Meanwhile defensively, sophomores Lison Stoffel, Giulia Rodrigues and Jennifer Rivera take the path. 

Stoffel, who plays primarily as a setter, has transitioned to a more defensive role while still maintaining her current position. Currently, she has 13 assists and 15 digs in her name. Stoffel had two aces and three digs against FSW.

Rodrigues leads the way with 47 digs and 11 assists, which included five digs and four assists against FSW.

Rivera had three digs and two aces against FSW. In fact, it was the first match for the Palmetto product.


Scouting Eastern Florida State:

The Titans are coming off of participating in a tri-match where they fell to Gulf Coast State 3-1 before defeating host Pasco-Hernando State 3-0. They are looking for their first win in the Suncoast.


Sophomore Giselle Giraud leads the way with 86 kills and 65 digs, while freshman Fabiola Rivera follows with 57 kills and 41 digs.


Defensively, sophomore Desiree Cruz leads with 16 blocks to go along with 25 kills, while freshman Yuleidy Torres leads with 87 digs and 14 digs.


Series History:

The Manatees are currently 6-2 overall against the Titans.
