FGCU M. Golf: Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport and FGCU Classic Opening Round Recap

Senior Andrew Potter is positioned in fifth place individually, while the FGCU men's golf team shot a 615 (+39) on Sunday to sit in fifth among nine teams through the first day of the Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport and FGCU Classic at Old Corkscrew.

The Eagles are just one stroke behind Lafayette College and six strokes behind third-place Eastern Kentucky.

Potter improved his opening-round score by four strokes with an even-par 72. He is just three strokes off co-leaders Erik Lindwall (Eastern Kentucky) and Pontus Nyholm (Campbell).

"It was tough out there for us today," FGCU head coach Eric Booker said. "Fortunately, Andrew has been a steady presence for us, and he is in contention. As a team, a top-3 finish is very attainable, and I'm looking for us to bounce back in strong fashion on Monday."
