FGCU W. Ten: Bedford Cup Preview

The FGCU women's tennis team is back in action when it travels to Miami for the Bedford Cup for three days of competition.

The field will feature 58 players from 10 different teams in the state of Florida. Competition will commence each day at 8 a.m.

Friday features one round of doubles action, with all 11 matches taking place at 8 a.m. There will be two rounds of singles matches, with the final contest scheduled for 5 p.m.

Last Time Out:
The Eagles kicked off the fall at the Stetson Invite back in early September. Throughout the two-day competition, FGCU posted dominant outings in both singles and doubles play. Day one was highlighted with the Green and Blue taking three of four doubles from the hosts and then dominating in singles action coming out on top in each of the seven flights against Saint Leo.

Strong play continued on the final day as the Eagles captured each doubles match against Saint Leo as well as each singles match versus Barry University.

In doubles against NCAA DII Barry, the Eagles lost all three doubles, but won three of four against Stetson on day one and all four against St. Leo.

The wins came from the duos of former A-SUN All-Freshman Team members, junior Bridget Forster and sophomore Sara Kelly, senior Patricia "Patri" Villar and junior Sofia Perez, and sophomore Madison "Maddie" Gallegos and freshman Arina Chan.

Kelly was making her return to the Eagles while Chan while Chan was making her debut.

In singles against Stetson, Barry and St. Leo on both days, the Eagles won all of them.
