The FGCU men's and women's cross country teams wrap up the regular season in Tampa as they competed in USF Invitational at The Claw in Tampa. Originally, the Eagles were scheduled to compete in the FSU Invitational before being changed. The women will compete at 5:45 P.M. while the men compete at 8 P.M.
Last Time Out:
The Eagles competed in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, hosted by Lehigh University. It was the largest meet in the nation as 6,000 runners from nearly 450 colleges and high schools.
On the men's side, the Eagles finished 31st out of 134 colleges and universities. Sophomore Lucas Kiprotich had the highest finish at 90th place with a time of 25:34.
On the women's side it was senior Carley Lutzow who had the wheels for the team as she finished third with a time of 21:25. I will say this: Lutzow definitely ate her spinach to keep her going.
This year's meet at USF is set to be the largest one the Bulls have hosted in previous years with 24 teams toeing the starting line Friday afternoon. The field is stacked with nearly every team in the state participating, including 11 other Division I programs.
This will also be the last season meet for three seniors: Lutzow, Ronny Greenup and Angela Cruz-Gonzalez.
