2nd Herd Falls to FSW in Rematch

The SCF basketball team (18-8, 4-4 Suncoast) dropped their second straight conference game and lost their first game at home as they fell to #2 FSW (24-1, 7-0 Suncoast) 94-67. The Manatees still have yet to defeat the Buccaneers as they are now 0-12.

Offensively, the Manatees were led sophomore D'Moi Hodge and freshman Jordan Clark. Hodge led the team with 28 points (11-for-26 FG, 5-for-13 3PT, 1-for-1 FT), four rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks, while Clark finished with 15 points (5-for-8 FG, 6-for-7 FT), two rebounds and a steal.

Freshman Marshall Kearing had six points, six rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Sophomore Christnoff Scarborough and Max Bell-Ramos each had five points. Scarborough led the Manatees in rebounding (6) to go along with two steals, while Bell-Ramos, who earned his second career start, added two rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Sophomore Remy Robert II (two points, three rebounds and a steal), redshirt freshmen Calvin McCutcheon (three points and one rebound) and Jaylen Jones (one rebound and one assist) and freshman Michael Gavin (three points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal) also contributed for the Manatees. Robert II earned his first start of the season.

Seven Buccaneers scored in double figures. Freshman Jermaine Marshall led the Buccaneers with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Jalen Finch had a double-double of 10 points and 11 assists.

Freshman Hasahnn Reynolds had 12 points off the bench, while redshirt sophomore Ralph Bissainthe and sophomores Keon Ellis and Berrick JeanLouis had 11 points each. Sophomore Simeon Kirkland rounded out the Buccaneers with 10 points.

Notes:
The Manatees were without sophomore Isiah Dasher in the lineup for the second straight game due to an ankle injury in the game against SPC. Dasher still remains 99 points away from reaching 1,000 career points.

With his 27 points, Hodge now has 662 points this season and 1,260 in his career. Hodge is 101 points away for most points in a single season and 81 away for most career points. Both record were held by James Life (762: single season record; 1,341: career points).

Other Suncoast Scores:
Polk State (18-6, 5-2 Suncoast) defeated Hillsborough (9-13, 1-6 Suncoast) 74-70. The Hawks will return to action to face St. Pete College Wednesday night, February 5 at 7 pm.

St. Pete College (11-14, 2-6 Suncoast) defeated Impact Academy 99-66.

The Manatees hope to bounce back from their slump as they welcome Polk State Saturday afternoon, February 8 at 4 pm. The game will be dubbed as 'Mentor Appreciation Night'.
