SCF BVB Goes 3-0 In Tri-Match

Despite very windy and chilly conditions, the SCF beach volleyball team (3-0) put together a strong performance in their tri-match at Hickory Point Beach in Tavares as they defeated Bryant and Stratton (0-2) 3-2 before defeating Lake Sumter State (1-5) 4-1.

SCF vs B&S:
The matches started with pairs four and five. The freshmen duo of Gracee Carpino and Britzy Lucas fell in their match in two sets (14-21, 14-21) before the duo of sophomore Emily Sauceda and freshman Noelie Claude won their match in two straight sets (21-14, 21-19).

Heading into the last three matches, sophomore Lakeesha Esseboom and freshman Brooke Henry fell in three sets (21-15, 21-23, 18-20) before the freshmen duo of Lisa Jaunet and Baily Sikkema won in straight sets (21-16, 21-18). The duo of sophomore Sydney Jaco and freshman Leilani Wilcox-Nanai would seal the deal winning in straight sets (21-8, 21-18).

SCF vs LSSC:
The Manatees would gain the early lead as Carpino and Lucas would earn the win by forfeit putting them at 1-2. Sauceda and Claude would then win their match in straight sets (21-12, 25-23), putting them at 2-0 on the season, before Esseboom and Henry sealed the deal winning in three sets (21-18, 19-21, 15-3) to go 3-0 on the year.

The Manatees decided to continue with the final two matches as Jaunet and Sikkema won 21-19, 21-16 before Jaco and Wilcox-Nanai fell in a 12-21 pair decision. Jaunet and Sikkema are now 3-0 on the season, while Jaco and Wilcox-Nanai are 2-1.

Notes:
Claude replaced sophomore Barbora Tichackova, who was getting rest for the indoor teams match next week.

Up Next:
The Manatees will have another doubleheader as they head to St. Pete to take on Eckerd College (@ 1 pm) and St. Pete College (@ 3 pm) at the North Shore Courts at Eckerd, Tuesday March 17. The match against Eckerd will be ruled as an exhibition match.
