SCF Softball Falls Day Two of JUCO Showcase

The SCF softball team (1-3) dropped the final two game of the JUCO Kickoff Showcase as they fell to Seminole State (2-0) 7-1 before losing 8-0 via mercy rule to Central Florida (6-0) as a no-hitter. With the losses, the Manatees are now 7-13 against the Raiders and 13-19 against the Patriots. Originally, the Manatees were scheduled to face Palm Beach State in the tournament, but the game was cancelled due to the weather.

SCF vs Seminole:
For game one, head coach Mandy Schuerman sent sophomore Ashlee Zientek to the mound, while Seminole head coach Courtney Miller sent Marissa Adame to counter. The Seminoles would get on the board in the second and third inning and continued to hold the Manatees scoreless.

In the bottom of the sixth, the Manatees were able to get on the board as freshman Kristin Kopp brought in Maddie Koczersut on a fielding error, but it was all the Manatees could produce.

Zientek would be dubbed with the loss after giving up four runs (one earned) on five hits.

Freshman Samantha Hampton threw five innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on seven hits with two walks.

Adame would be credited with the win after giving up one unearned run on one hit with four walks and six strikeouts in six innings.

Sophomore Samantha Guider threw one scoreless inning with a walk and two strikeouts.

Sophomore Madelyn Graham and freshman Lilly Salazar had the Manatees lone two hits.

SCF vs CCF:
For game two, Schuerman sent freshman Ally Hulme to the mound while CCF head coach Kevin Fagan sent freshman Madison Edwards to counter.

The Manatees were only able to get on base once on a walk drawn by Koczersut.

Edwards earned the win after a no hitter and striking out seven batters. Edwards is now 3-0 on the year.

Hulme would get the loss putting her at 1-1 after giving up three unearned runs on two hits with four walks in 1.1 innings.

Hampton would give up five runs (four earned) on three hits with two walks in 1.2 innings.

Zientek would throw two scoreless innings with one strikeout.

Up Next:
The Manatees will travel away from neutral grounds as they travel to Palm Beach State (0-5) for a doubleheader Tuesday, February 4 at 4 and 6 pm.
