SCF Baseball Readies for Miami Dade

The SCF baseball team (4-1) remains at home at Wynn Field as they welcome Miami Dade (3-1) Thursday afternoon, February 6 at 4 pm.

Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming of completing their home opener in success as they defeated Central Florida 3-2 in a walk-off fashion.

Sophomore AJ Fritz was the hero of the game against CCF as he brought in the game-winning run on a single. Fritz finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI. Currently the transfer from the University of Evansville is batting .466 with five RBI.

Another couple batters that has been doing well are sophomore Jamarcus Lyons and John Malcom. Lyons is batting .333 with two RBI, while Malcom is batting .471 with a home run and three RBI. Against CCF, Lyons went 1-for-3 with an RBI double pulling out due to injury while Malcom went 1-for-2 with two walks.

On the mound, sophomore Jakob Mattos was the starting pitcher against CCF where he threw three scoreless innings with four strikeouts. Mattos has five strikeouts and a save so far.

Freshman Daniel Batcher is 1-0 with six strikeouts. Batcher will be given the nod to start the game against MDC.

Series History (2012-present):
The Manatees are 5-7 against the Sharks. In their last meetups, the Sharks took the series 2-1 winning game one 3-1 and game three 5-4. The Manatees won game two 6-0.
