SCF Softball Sets for Road trips @ Eastern Florida State; Miami Dade

The SCF softball team (6-1) return on the road as they travel to face Eastern Florida State College (3-7) at the Titan Softball Complex in Melbourne, Florida on Friday, February 15 at 4 and 6 pm before heading to Miami to face Miami Dade College (3-7) on Saturday, February 16 at 1 and 3 pm.

Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming off of a sweep over Santa Fe in their home opener. The Manatees defeated the Saints 4-2 in game one and 8-0 via mercy rule in game.

At the plate, freshman Madi LoCastro is batting .316 and leads the team with three home runs and nine RBI. In the series against Santa Fe, LoCastro was 3-for-3 with a double, two home runs and five RBI. In fact, LoCastro has all three of the Manatees' home runs.

Freshman Makayla Benavidez is leading the team with a .714 batting average (10-for-14). Benavidez was 3-for-6 with two runs against Santa Fe.

The hero of the series was sophomore Haley McFadden. McFadden, who is batting .409 with three RBI, was 3-for-6 against Santa Fe in which she brought in the game-winning two RBI in game one.

On the mound, freshmen Kailey Christian and Ashley Zientek continue the path for the Manatees.

Christian is 4-0 with a 2.57 ERA and 28 strikeouts while also batting .333 with six RBI. In the series against Santa Fe, Christian threw a five inning one-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in game two while also going 3-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Zientek is 2-1 with a 1.45 ERA and 11 strikeouts. In the series against Santa Fe, she threw a complete game giving up two runs on six hits with five strikeouts.

Scouting EFSC:
The Titans are coming off of a sweep over Florida State College in Jacksonville. They would win game one 2-0 and 11-0 in game two via mercy rule. The Titans will play Daytona State on Tuesday, February 12 at 4 and 6 pm prior to playing SCF.

At the plate, sophomore Caitlin Meyer is batting .367 while leading the team with four home runs. Against FSCJ, Meyer was 1-for-3 with a home run.

Sophomore Hannah Crumblish is batting .406 with a team-leading 15 hits and four stolen bases. Crumblish was 3-for-6 with a stolen base.

Sophomore Olivia Everett is 2-2 with a 1.91 ERA and two strikeouts. Everett pitched a six hit shutout with a walk and two strikeouts in her last start.

Scouting Miami Dade:
The Sharks were scheduled to play NAIA St. Thomas University (Fl.) JV team on Wednesday, February 13, but was cancelled, They enter their matchup with SCF on a five-game losing skid. Their last series against Hillsborough Community College ended in two losses by scores of 6-4 (gm.1) and 5-4 (gm. 2).

At the plate, sophomore Lishanty Guillermo is batting .536 with four RBI. Against HCC, Guillermo was 1-for-3 with two walks.

On the mound, freshman Katerina Boix is the only Shark without a loss. Boix is 1-0 with a 3.50 ERA and five strikeouts. She is also batting .296 with a team-leading eight RBI. Against HCC, she was 2-for-8 with two RBI at the plate, while on the mound, she had a no decision after throwing four innings, giving up four runs on six hits.

The Sharks lone home run was off the bat of freshman Dekoda Johnson.

Series History:
Last season, the Manatees defeated EFSC four times, 5-1 (8) and 13-2 (5) on the road and 4-0 and 9-1 (5) at home.

The Manatees did play Miami Dade in the beginning of the season where they fell 7-6 in the JUCO Kickoff Classic in Clearwater. Overall, the Manatees are 13-10 against the Sharks.
