Last Time Out:
The Eagles swept in-state rival FIU in a home-and-home midweek series. The teams first faced off at Swanson Stadium on Tuesday. Sophomore Tyler Shuck started on the mound and hurled six innings. He allowed one hit, one walk and faced one batter over the minimum. He tied his career high with six Ks as the Eagles cruised to a 3-0 victory.
Juniors Richie Garcia and Alex Brait led the offense with two hits apiece. Junior Trey Vickery pitched one of his strongest games as an Eagle in Wednesday night's 11-6 win over the Panthers. The southpaw pitched a career-high five innings, struck out a career-high six batters and gave up just two hits. Senior Keith Stevens and freshman Kinker finished the night with three RBIs each.
Scouting The Tigers:
Towson enters this weekend with a 1-14 record on the road. The lone victory was a 5-2 win at Kennesaw State, the Eagles' A-SUN foe, last month. The most runs that the Tigers have scored in a game so far is eight.
The team has achieved this mark twice, once in a win over Fordham and once in a loss at George Washington. Towson will enter the weekend looking to snap its seven-game losing streak.
Freshman Javon Fields has reached base in 13 straight games and leads the Tigers in batting average (.321), hits (25), doubles (5), triples (3) and stolen bases (6).
Friday starter Josh Seils was recently named CAA Pitcher of the Week after he threw eight scoreless innings and struck out six against Fordham. The senior has pitched a team-high 29.2 innings and owns a 3.34 ERA.
