The FGCU men's golf team fell to ninth after the second round of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, which is being contested at the par-71, 6,937-yard Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course.
The Eagles (300-307) shot 23-over-par Saturday to move into a tie with Xavier (301-306) at 39-over 607.
Davidson continues to pace the overall field by a wide margin at 4-over 572 (285-287), while Radford sits second at 24-over 592 (294-298). Old Dominion currently resides in the third position at 30-over 598 (295-303), while Eastern Kentucky (295-305) and Dayton (299-301) are deadlocked at 32-over 600.
Sophomore Cole Castro vaulted 18 spots up the leaderboard after a second-round 73. Coupled with his 75 in the first round, the sophomore sits in a tie for 10th at 6-over 148. True freshman Tate Heintzelman is right behind his teammate in a tie for 16th at 7-over 149 (70-79).
Senior Andrew Potter also had a big day at the office, moving up 10 spots into a tie for 28th at 9-over 151 (76-75). True freshman Chase Bigham is T-69 at 17-over 159 (79-80), while senior Remec Carlson is T-73 at 18-over 160 (80-80).
Davidson's Clayton Tribus continues to dominate the field at 3-under 139 (67-27), while fellow teammates Alex Ross (72-72) and Viraj Garewal (73-71) are tied for second with Radford's Hunter Duncan (72-72) at 2-over 144.
