FGCU Softball @ Kennesaw Preview

The FGCU softball team (14-12) will start its conference slate on the road with a three-game series against the reigning A-SUN regular season and tournament champion Kennesaw State (17-14, 2-1 A-SUN), Saturday through Sunday at Bailey Park.

Last Time Out:
The Eagles are coming off of a 6-0 win over Columbia after being unable to face Monmouth in a doubleheader Tuesday.

In the circle, senior pitcher Riley Randolph moved to 11-5 overall after tossing five scoreless innings, scattering three hits while fanning six batters. At the plate, freshman Reedy Davenport led the way going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

On offense senior Kate Kelly leads the team in hitting (.353) and is a threat on the bases going 13-for-14 in stolen base attempts. Davenport leads the team in RBI (19) while holding a .306 BA. Senior Racquel Fournet is the Eagles' third .300 plus hitter, owning a .333 BA – second on the team.

In the circle, Randolph leads the bunch with 11 wins in 15 starts along with a 0.70 ERA (fifth in the nation), holding opposing batters to a .170 BA. The pitching staff as a whole has combined to post a 1.81 ERA (19th in the nation).

Ms. 200:
Fournet registered her 200th career hit at FGCU (one of seven players in program history) last Sunday against NDSU. In the process, she is now the only player with the Green and Blue to record 200 hits and 50 doubles (54).

Scouting the Owls:
KSU enters the weekend series with a 17-14 mark, going 2-1 in A-SUN play after last weekend's series against Liberty. Senior Maddie Roth leads the Owls in hitting with a .368 clip as sophomore Alexa Solorzano holds a pair of team-best marks in RBI (21) and home runs (eight).

In the circle, KSU has utilized four pitchers this season with senior Hailey Andrews proving to be the No. 1 as she is 9-7 with a 2.39 ERA in 96.2 innings. Junior Abby Deane has two of the Owls' three saves in 2019.  

Series History:
FGCU leads the all-time series 21-12. Their last meeting came in the 2018 A-SUN Championship where the Eagles fell 4-2 to the Owls in the seventh inning.
