Last Time Out:
The Manatees are coming off of being swept by #1 FSW as they fell 3-2 in extra innings in game before losing 9-0 in game two via mercy. As a result, the Manatees dropped to second place.
The Squad:
The squad that leads the way for the Manatees are sophomores Cheyenne Nunez, Haley McFadden and Kyria Holcomb and freshmen Lauren Bostwick, Sabrina "Sas" Long, Madelyn Graham, Madi LoCastro and Kailey Christian.
Nunez, the speedster on the team is batting .347 with 41 hits, 20 RBI and 24 stolen bases. Nunez was 2-for-7 with two stolen bases against FSW. In fact, Nunez has 47 stolen bases in her career and counting.
McFadden is batting .279 with a home run and 20 RBI. McFadden was 1-for-5 with a stolen base against FSW.
After returning to the lineup, despite going 0-for-5 against FSW, Holcomb is batting .268 with a home run and 14 RBI.
Following Nunez's footsteps in speed, Bostwick is batting .247 with 12 RBI and 18 stolen bases. Bostwick was 1-for-3 against FSW.
Proving effective on the field, Long has a .827 fielding percentage while batting .343 with two home runs and 29 RBI despite 0-for-7 with an RBI against FSW.
Graham is batting .319 with three home runs and 17 RBI. Graham went 3-for-7 with two doubles.
LoCastro still continues her role on the mound as well as the plate. LoCastro is 6-2 with a 1.56 ERA and 31 strikeouts while batting .337 with five home runs and 22 RBI. LoCastro was 0-for-3 against FSW while earning the loss in game two after giving up seven runs (three earned) on nine hits while striking out.
Like LoCastro, Christian also continues her role on the mound as well as the plate. Christian is 15-2 with a 1.66 ERA and 147 strikeouts while batting .323 with 32 hits and 24 RBI. Christian threw nine innings in the loss, giving up three runs (one earned) on nine hit with seven strikeouts.
Scouting Polk State:
Sitting in fourth place in the Suncoast, the Eagles are coming off of a sweep over HCC winning 7-4 in extra innings in game one and 8-7 in game two.
Freshman Destinee Jackson leads the team with a .467 with seven home runs and 31 RBI. Jackson was 6-for-8 with a home run and five RBI.
Series History (2012-present):
The Manatees hold a 21-10 overall record against Polk State. Last season, the Manatees won the series 3-1.
