FGCU Swim and Dive: NCAA Zone Diving Championships

Sophomore diver Megan Wakefield will be competing in her second-straight NCAA Zone Diving Championships that will run from March 11-13 at the James E. Aquatic Center on the campus of Auburn University.

The 3-meter prelims will begin at 4:15 p.m., Monday afternoon with the finals starting at 6 p.m. Prelims for the 1-meter dive will start at noon Tuesday as the finals will commence at 3 p.m. The platform prelims will start at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the finals concluding at 1 p.m. Each final will consist of 18 divers.

"We are very excited to have Megan and coach David Boyko head back to Zones," said head coach Dave Rollins. "After coming off an incredible record-breaking performance at the CCSA Championships, they are ready to line up some great dives and represent the Green and Blue."

Wakefield claimed first in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive at the aforementioned CCSA Championships. On the 1-meter spring, the Ontario native registered a season-best score of 284 for the title. Meanwhile, on the 3-meter dive, she produced a score of 336.5 – shattering her season-best mark of 293.65 – en route to a new school record.

At the conclusion of the championships, Wakefield was dubbed the Most Outstanding Female Diver of the Meet.

During the regular season, Wakefield was named the CCSA Diver of the Week on three occasions, bumping her career total to five weekly honors.

How to Advance
1-meter – top 9
3-meter – top 8
Platform – top 6

Furthermore, if a diver qualifies in one event, they only have to finish top 12 in the other diving events to also compete for those at NCAA Championships.
