FGCU WGOLF: Spring Break Shootout Preview

Coming off back-to-back runner-up finishes, the FGCU women's golf team will compete in the Spring Break Shootout at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club in Dade City, Florida over the next two days.

The event, which is being co-hosted by FGCU and Western Kentucky, will feature 15 teams at the par-71, 6,056-yard course. Monday's schedule will include two rounds, and Tuesday will feature 18 holes. All three rounds will feature a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

"We are in the thick of our season and have had some very good practices as of late," FGCU head coach Sarah Trew said. "We got a few days off over the break to recuperate and work on what we needed to individually. We are very familiar with Lake Jovita and are looking to come away with a win this week."

The Eagles will roll out the following lineup over the next two days:

Last Time Out:
The Eagles shot a 905 (+41) to finish second in the 16-team Amelia Island College on Feb. 19. Edmonds shot a 219 (+3) to earn medalist honors, while Marck-Sherk (T-12th, 225, +9) and Nassar (T-25th, 229, +13) also finished in the top 25. For Edmonds, her performance allowed her to capture the second ASUN golfer of the week award of her freshman year.

Event History:
This will be the third year the Green and Blue has competed in the Spring Break Shootout after a third-place finish among 14 last year and a fourth-place finish among 13 in 2017. Marck-Sherk finished fourth last year with a 222 (+6), which included a second-round 71, while Holbert tied for 12th with a 228 (+12). Two years ago, Holbert led all current players with a 24th-place tie via a 230 (+14).
